André Courrèges, born on March 9, 1923 in Pau, is the founder of Courrèges. "You will be an engineer," said his father. "He studied engineering and learned architecture and drawing. It was not until the 1950s that he became interested in sewing. He worked for Atelier Balenciaga for 10 years before founding his own house in 1961.
