Keiko Mecheri
Keiko Mecheri’s path into the often-insular world of fragrance is a refreshingly unique one. Born in Atami, Japan, Mecheri was first a visual artist, painter, and musician who came to Los Angeles to study Fine Arts at UCLA. Drawn to fragrance in the early ‘90s as an extension of the fine arts, she and her husband opened a business that first specialized in scented candles and bath products, but with the introduction of a line of highly-refined fragrances in the 2000s, the business transitioned into the now world-renowned Les Parfums Keiko Mecheri.
As the creative force behind the brand, Mecheri collaborates closely with many of the most talented noses in niche perfume to craft unique fragrances unbeholden to the trends and caprices of the industry, where artistic integrity and wearability are both absolute requirements. Her compositions often feature unique interpretations of a variety of roses, her favorite ingredient.
