Ernest Daltroff
Country: France
Ernest Daltroff was the child of Russian-Jewish immigrants born in France in 1867. Inspired by his mother, who used to put a drop of perfume behind his ears before bed as a child, he purchased a defunct perfumery in Paris in 1902 with his brother; they renamed it the house of Caron after the former owner. Along with Felicie Wanpouille, Daltroff created many of Caron's legendary urn fragrances, before he was forced to flee the country to escape the rise of Nazism in 1941.
