Carlos Benaim

Carlos Benaïm was born and raised in Tangiers, Morocco. He trained as a chemical engineer before entering a training program at International Flavors & Fragrances in 1967; he trained under Bernard Chant and Ernest Shiftan. He is currently a senior perfumer at IFF. He was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Society of Perfumers in 2004, and a Perfumer of the Year Lifetime Achievement award from the Fragrance Foundation in 2014. In 2013, he was named Master Perfumer at IFF, the first perfumer to be so designated at the company.
He is responsible for megahits such as Calvin Klein Etenity for men, Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, and Ralph Lauren Polo, as well as niche hits like A Lab On Fire’s Liquid Night.
