Here's what other people are saying about Gardenia Petale...
Some folks obviously like this and I purchased it based on description and reviews. Cloyingly sweet- and I like sweet perfumes normally, but not this one. No real scent of gardenia just a mishmash that even old ladies would not wear and I am one. I gave this two stars because in my first review of this fragrance I only gave it one and they did not publish my review. Will bear that in mind next time I read reviews- very skewed to encourage sales rather than give the true picture of reactions to a fragrance.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. It's the truest gardenia fragrance I've ever tried. Unfortunately, it doesn't last on me. Within an hour of putting it on, it has totally disappeared. If you like gardenia, try a sample of this. If it lasts for you, it's a winner. If it has lasted longer on my skin, it would be my main fragrance. For those of you who, like me, this doesn't last on, try Isabey Gardenia. While it's not as true to the flower as this one, it's my main perfume and I'm so afraid they'll quit making it I always keep a backup bottle. As soon as one is empty, I order another backup.

I wanted a perfume to remember my wedding day by, which took place in the deep south amid gardenias and jasmine. So I ordered a custom sample packet and tried 7 different perfumes with variations on these notes, and Gardenia Petale was my runaway favorite. I immediately ordered the full bottle. It is truly a lush and pretty gardenia, there is nothing sickly sweet about it and doesn't have the synthetic or suntan-lotion smells that a few of the samples did. It's not trying to be too complicated; it is simply a gorgeous creation without any tricks up its sleeve. The bottle is a nice, classic style and it has a heft to it which feels expensive. The color of the perfume just reaffirms that this stuff is like liquid gold to me.

Gardenia Petale is lush, but not gaggy-lush. What I mean by this is that sometimes with Big White Flowers, you get this throat-coating sensation (somewhat akin to pollen-season in DC where you can't go out of the house without feeling overwhelmed); that sensation does not surface with Gardenia Petale. GP starts out with a delightful burst of fragrance, and stays beautifully floral throughout, without smelling simulated or throat-coating. This may be boring for some who are concerned with the "artistic" development of a fragrance that presents different nuances and personality, (and sometimes "odd behavior" off and on). This fragrance, however, is the real deal of beauty. It's simply beautiful. No extra "dazzle" to entice, it's just a thing of beauty that is full and lush and breathtaking. I will keep this one forever (or until VC&A decides to reformulate).

I love the smell of gardenia. It's my favorite flower smell. I go out of my way to smell gardenias. I can't imagine coming closer to the smell of gardenia than this. It's an intoxicating smell. It even has the slight rottenness at the base of the scent if you breathe deeply and closely. One good use of this would be to perk up gardenias in wedding bouquets and boutonnieres.

LOVE!!!! I smell like a flower, gardenia to be exact. I really love this. Light but not too light. When the wind blows everyone get a nice whiff and says "What are you wearing". Stays on all day!

If they could make this one last I'd buy a lifetime supply of it. A light, lovely gardenia scent, with (for me) a strong dose of earthy mushroom, which I also liked. Light and fresh, and alas, soon not noticeable at all. That's the only reason this one gets a 4 and not a 5.

I got a sample of this and had to buy it. Yes, it is absolutely lovely. I get compliments all the time. It isn't so strong that it will give you a head ache but has this wonderful light scent. Downside is that it fades super fast and for the price I wish it would last longer.

my favorite of all my collection. this is the most i've ever spent for a perfume and i've been using it every day for months. i received a sample from lucky scent when i made a purchase and i couldn't stop smelling its a perfect gardenia perfume. my only problem is that for the price i was hoping that it would last longer. this may sound super strange but i find that it smells very similar to Avon's Today which is far more affordable and lasts much longer on the skin.

Finally garednia version that does not resemble the suntan lotion, not too sweet, sticky, etc. Nathalie Feisthauer is very talented. I like her creations. Very sophisticated, elegant and exquisite fragrance.

This opens with a cool, green lily of the valley, develops into a beautiful, true, creamy gardenia & dries down into a crisp, frosted floral not unlike Yosh's Whiteflowers. The sillage is soft but it lasts for many hours on me. l have tried many gardenias in search of the perfect one, one which doesn't disappoint by being simply a mix of jasmine & tuberose. This is the one! Eureka, l have found my HG gardenia at last!

I have sampled alot of gardenia scents over the past few months, and this one is the most *pure* in a true gardenia scent to my nose. This is fresh with a touch of green. Very pretty scent. Perfect for this blazing southwest heat!

A light, but well rounded and deep gardenia scent. I loved it for the first hour, but now it's gone metallic on my skin. For the right chemistry this would be a lovely perfume.
