Here's what other people are saying about Anubis...
Magical perfume. Not the first niche I own, but Anubis eclipses them all... just a matter of "match" of course, "signature" hunt is over. Praise and complaints are true. Close to skin - yes, but also is eternal. Thick and dense, but instead of suffocating - opens a hidden door, you want to breathe it in... feeling comforted, at peace with the rush and lack of time... somehow the world presents itself as sensual. Liz Moore's talent and research are obvious: classic meditation describes this scent as jasmine spreads in the air as a sign of first step of elevation. Pink Lotus blooms in Hall of Ma'at where fair Anubis is weighing hearts... represents resurrection... so conceptual... just brilliant! Practical note: many perfumes I can't use on skin - they burn, but this one is fine. Alek.

A new signature scent. Incense and smoke come through very well. The perfume wraps you in warmth and leather. Absolutely adore. My cat? Not so much, but there's no accounting for taste.

It's a first of its kind and my second new favorite. I'm calling it a post-apocalyptic scent! Smells like band aids (that sterile plastic) mixed with spicy smoke. I would love to try this on a sexy night out in a dry desert city like Phoenix or Vegas, but it might be hard to pull off in wet, rainy Seattle. I love it nonetheless and will definitely try.

I don't hate it but in NO WAY do I concur with any of the lovely reviews posted about it here.

I deserve this. Jasmine is beautiful in this mixture

Papillon perfumes all convey a coherent vision. For me Anubis, a frankincense leather, is spiritual armor. It reminds me of East Asian temple incense. I loved it the first time I sampled it, but it is only after purchasing a full bottle and wearing it several times that I have come to experience the tremendous depth of this perfume. Absolute masterpiece.

This is a dark sumptuous fragrance. A very unique creation that envelops you like a sarcophagus of leather, spices and deep resins. High quality and not for the faint of heart. I also have Salome and Bengale Rouge from the same house. Also incredible and rich fragrances, but Anubis remains my favourite. I am ordering my second bottle.

Smoky resurrection. This is what I wear to evoke the woman I want to become.

Don't let this scare you off - Sniffing the sample bottle, I was afraid this would smell awful. However, I'm in love. On me, this dries down to lovely, darker scents of incense, smoke, and scents that make me think of dark nights, with some heat. I smell very little floral scent, but on me, those typically fade quickly, or turn to cleanser-smelling scents. So... this was perfect. It's similar to Tauer L'air au desert Moroccain, but without the sweetness I smell with Tauer. And I LOVE the Tauer smell, too. I would almost call Tauer a more day scent, and Anubis an evening scent.

The search is over! Hands down, no argument will be broached or entertained. THE best leather fragrance ever created. No wimpy "hints" at a sanitized leather "note". This is flat out the first time you open a box of beautiful suede pumps! Now, in deference to those who prefer a more subtle approach, I get it, but there are dozens of those around. I have been waiting foreverrrrr for a perfumeur to have the gumption to throw prissy politeness to the wind and dare to create a true suede/leather fragrance that is powerful yet elegant. This is it. Period. Ahhhhhh, I'm in leather heaven..........

You had me at the name. 'Anubis" who could resist that. Not me! As soon as I tried it I knew I have worn something very similar to this before, I am not sure what that one was called, but my first impressions are identical; The morning after a great party. Someone has left a tiny amount of a peaty whisky in a glass next to an ashtray full of cigar butts, and someone else thought it would be fun to tip that into the ashtray and dab the resulting mixture behind their ears!!!! I get the leather too, rode hard and put away wet!! I love it, what a wonderful scent.

In Paris, just outside the entrance gates of Cimetiere de Montmartre, there is a quiet row of shops that provide funeral goods for mourners. In the window of one of those shops, there are pots of ceramic flowers for sale, because when the French do artificial flowers they do them right. In that window, there is a small pot of purple-and-yellow immortelle, dusty now but created to withstand rain, sun, inattention, and other Parisian vagaries. You are standing outside that shop in a suede jacket. It’s raining lightly. That’s Anubis.

This is a very strong scent. Smells like an empty horse stall after a ride. It gave me a headache, lasts forever, I could smell it still after I put my sample ribbon in the trash bin. But on the flipside, my husband thought it smelled great. I gave it to him.

Beautiful brimstone. It's tough and sharp, but deep and soulful. I've tried the other smoke and incense power houses, and this is my favotite. Not because it knocks my socks off (which it does), but because it is more than a power statement. It has beautiful but subdued florals and sweetness that underlie the hardcore strength of the opening. A few hours in, and I know what a glorious fragrance this is. It got me, and it keeps me by mellowing into a beautiful fragrance full of strength, but also hidden depth. Something we all wish for.

I wouldn't pick individual notes to be on my "must have" list, on paper at least, but what a creation it is altogether, when faced with it. Kudos to the perfumer, this is a fantastic dark potion, vast and deep, perfect for me, anytime, anywhere. It projects moderately, and lasts forever. More like this!

Gloriously, transcendently soft, dry, and evocative -- all frankincense, myrrh, labdanum, and mastic in dark spaces. I adore this.

First hour all I smell is recently emptied ashtray. Hour two and it's ....leather chair which is really close to the ashtray. Under the circumstances I wasn't unhappy that the entire scent disappeared by hour 3.

At first I was indifferent to this scent but when I tried it a second time I fell in love. It's dark and mysterious and not at all sweet on me, it gets a bit powdery but it's a dark witchy powder. It reminds me a bit of the dry down of the classic Narcisse Noir. It doesn't last more than 3 hours on me though.

Warm, somewhat sweet leather. It doesn't read as suede to me, but something with a little more firmness. The jasmine, pink lotus, and immortelle are very present and soften the whole, but without losing structure. A very very nice perfume.
