Here's what other people are saying about Civet...
I just received this yesterday and wearing for the first time today. I don't normally leave perfume reviews because I am so bad at describing the notes, but I feel the need to encourage others to try this absolutely gorgeous concoction. This is my new Holy Grail of perfumes. I was in search of something reminiscent of the old Alyssa Ashley Civet from the 70's (reliving my teenage years here). I blind bought this Civet after reading the rave reviews that it wasn't a Civet capable of blowing your brains out with the animalics. This is soft, skin like, with just a touch of spice and floral to make it very interesting and different. This - on me anyway - is soft enough to wear year round. Absolutely love it.

I love complex, delicious scents that continue to bloom on warm skin. This fragrance while initially satisfying the former dissipated with the latter. I recognize this is a lovely and unique fragrance; however, I prefer Bee from Zoologist instead. That particular fragrance blossomed literally much better for me than this. I am sadly not in agreement with most of the reviewers praising this scent over others from this amazing parfumier. I give it 3 stars for the lush packaging and the way if feels. If you are a tactile person, this is just a lovely item to have in your scent library but Bee is the fragrance for which I would give 4-5 stars.

I sampled all of the sweet/floral offerings from Zoologist, and Civet emerged as my first full bottle purchase from the house for the winter season (with my eye on several others to collect in the future). What an incredible fragrance house! I found Civet to be completely wearable, very retro-modern in a fiercely sexy sort of way, sprinkled with pepper, coffee, and an implacable, intoxicating musk. This is one of the more "wearable" offerings from Zoologist, and I'd recommend this along with Musk Deer, Bee, Chameleon, Dragonfly, and Hummingbird for getting your feet wet. I feel on top of the world wearing this!

After receiving a sample of Civet I knew I had to have a full bottle of this gorgeous fragrance. The fragrance reminds me of the version of Tabu, not the cheap drugstore brand of today, my favorite Great Aunt Lily always wore. This was in the mid 1960’s and Tabu had been my great aunt’s signature fragrance since its debut in the 1930’s. Both perfumes, speaking of vintage Tabu only, share many of the same ingredients and might be why Civet awakened my fond childhood memories of my great aunt. I truly love Civet as it smells so good and has great sillage as well as longevity. Such a gorgeous fragrance!

I'll confess I was a little scared to try this one on. Rest assured, it will not knock you out. It's nice! Bit of a mellow last-sip-of-coffee, cooled-down-but-it's-a-hot-day kinda thing going. Very cozy, but powerful.

Excelente fragancia, a dónde llegas te haces notar, no es para todo el mundo pero quién le saque provecho sin duda va a triunfar...

I second the wonderful review by the wonderful Angela. This, for me, is sexy as Hell and has buckets of that sweet, tangy civet note purring ferociously beneath spicy florals. Why anyone would bother anymore hunting down vintage scents on eBay when beauties like this are now being made is beyond me. Salome, Maii , Civet, Onda, Anubis, Siberian Summer you own my soul. Thank you Luckyscent!

Funny to read the "no floral" review - on me the drydown is all tuberose, lots of sweetness. This is too "safe" for me in my current fragrance incarnation of dirt and motor oil and more offensive indoles so I would second the "don't be afraid" opinion. But neither get excited about smelling like, well, an animal, because this is not that.

This is one of my favorite fragrances. A very tame animalic scent so do not be frightened of it. I would recommend this to someone who is curious about animalics. Sexy, warm and floral. A hint of spices peeking through. I love it to death. Amazing longevity as well.

Not bad. This pepper bomb is best suited for cooler weather. The pepper is *really* noticeable, especially at first, so if you're not a fan, beware. I can pick up a bit of a carnation denatured of all sweet, but it's sure not a floral. Coffee scent comes in as it wears. Has no "sweet." Peppery, dry, spice bomb, best suited for the guys. Reminds me a teeny bit of a slightly softened, less herbal Yatagan.

I will not comment on the scent components, what strikes me the most is how long-lasting this perfume is: 20 hours and 2 showers later, I still sense it, in the air around me, and on my skin where I applied it. I sprayed a different perfume over it, the second perfume has vanished after 4 hours, but Civet is there. At the same time, it is the scent that stays closer to the body, doesn't fill the room when the person who wears it walks in. It is a synthetic but very pleasant scent, very interesting, quite sweet & a bit sour.

Zoologist is a landslide winning house. Real synthetic civet (seriously!) and a coffee note that smells like real coffee with mellow spices and just the right amount of natural sweetness. Treat yourself to a cup today. Brilliant!

There's a brilliant line from a certain 1970's movie -- "Honey, I'm more man than you'll ever be and more woman than you'll ever get." Reverse that and bottle it and you've got Civet, which pours decades' worth of femme luxury notes into one scent and *still* could work as a masculine...on a truly self-possessed man. Civet's soft subsurface rumble starts early and keeps an amazing profusion of vintage and modern flower notes in check, giving the effect of lushness without delirium. The drydown and sillage are a day-long commitment, but with so much going on you will never be bored. Whether or not you can stop humming "I'm Every Woman," on the other hand...
