Smell, feel. Breathe in, remember, inhale, respond.
From exploring the creation of perfume to how odors are perceived, this book addresses the question of olfaction in all its complexity. What inspires perfumers? How do they work? How do they translate an impression, a feeling, a story, through the only olfactory sense?
Featuring interviews with perfumers and text by researchers, it was created to accompany two art exhibitions in Lausanne, Switzerland: Nez a Nez: Contemporary Perfumers at the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts, and What a Nose! Scents and Feelings at the Musée de la Main UNIL-CHUV.
Interviews include: Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, Isabelle Doyen, Céline Ellena, Jean-Claude Ellena, Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Olivia Giacobetti, Pierre Guillaume, Vero Kern, Patricia Nicolai, Fabrice Pellegrin, Dominique Ropion, Maurice Roucel, Lorenzo Villoresi.
