Here's what other people are saying about Cape Heartache...
Love the idea behind Imaginary Authors and the originality of the scents, but Cape Heartache did not work for me. From beginning to end, strawberry dominated on my skin. It's a nice strawberry scent, not cloying or too sweet and the fir (I think its the fir?) seems to temper it some, but still strawberry. I think the sophistication is there, but it is not coming through on me.

This is one of my favorite fragrances. Smells like you’re lying in a hammock in a pine forest on a cool, partly sunny day in the early summer while eating strawberries. 10010

Every winter, we burn our Christmas tree in our fire pit when the season is done. This is exactly what the smells like! Cold and snow and burning pine. It's extremely nostalgic. I love it....but I am unsure about wearing it in summer.....I'll give it a go, but I feel like this is definitely a colder season fragrance.

Reminds me of camping when I was a kid but with a grown up edge! It's woodsy which I'm obsessed with fragrance wise right now, but has this really pleasant sweet note (that hit instantly on me) of vanilla underneath that makes you feel less like a christmas candle and more like a mysterious forest nymph. Perfumes tend to pull powdery on me, especially when there's a vanilla note so this skews sweet on me. It's not aggressive or in your face. Pleasant, soft, mysterious, edgy, sweet. Good for anytime I'd say--date night, daytime, work...this could work anywhere. For reference I'd say if you're a fan of the bath and body works candle Marshmallow Fireside then this is your jam. It would be like the pretty perfume version of that!

Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache really captures, to my nose. being in a forest. Very comforting. The named tree notes plus a little strawberry really round out this perfume. Kudos to the Perfume Creator who created this fragrance. Your nose is spot on. This is FB worthy. If you've never tried a forest perfume, please try this one. Try a sample, if your'e not sure. I can't seem to say enough favorable aspects of this perfume. Thank you.

Deep, dark and dangerous. It's pleasingly masculine, to my nose, with an almost grapey jamminess just for fun.

Deep, dark and dangerous, fades into a pleasingly masculine almost grapey smell.

A wonderful true fir balsam or Christmas tree scent a la Slumberhouse Norne but not quite as wild (plus it won't stain your clothes), with a very accessible gracenote of ripe strawberry to accompany the natural jammy sweetness of the pine resin. Simple and straightforward, but no less beautiful or delicious for that! Long-lasting on skin with excellent projection, this will delight conifer lovers of all persuasions.
