Petrichor is an ode to orris, but not in the typical fashion. It’s reminiscent of cold, wet dirt, while at the same time carrying a specific luminescence. There is a rooty and shimmering effect, undeniably like the scent of fresh rain on dirt and cold stone. Conceptual, cold, dry, powdery, dramatic and avant-garde.
Each fragrance in The Garden Collection evokes an aspect of a secret garden: cold stone, flowers budding and dried, strewn about tea leaves and tarot cards, and a locked wooden gate.
What We Think
Orris, one of the more polarizing notes in fragrance, is made into it's most likeable self with a bright touch of immortelle laced with lemon juice. However, perfumer Marissa Zappas clearly hasn't forgotten the root of the fragrance, as the finish digs deep into the earth fresh after rain, with touches of sandalwood and moss.
