Parisian Musc espouses the philosophy of Aurelien Guichard’s Matière Premiere to perfection by carving away all the extraneous noise so that the simple beauty of its main raw material – here ambrette seed – can shine. And shine it does. Ambrette seed is one of nature’s marvels. Wholly vegetal in origin, it replicates the soft, fuzzy comfort of a cashmere sweater on clean, perfumed skin. In Parisian Musc, all of the uniquely fruity, anisic qualities of ambrette seed come through in a milky cloud of scent that blooms immediately upon contact with skin. It smells alive and intimate, yet translucent and delicately green.
In the heart, a subtle touch of fig leaf accentuates the milky-fruity warmth of the ambrette seed, while Virginian cedar and Ambroxan in the basenotes are there to support the gentle muskiness of the ambrette, giving it a salty, woody radiance that both adds depth and elongates its sound. There are many creamy-figgy ‘my skin but better’ musks out there, but Parisian Musc does it with such Parisian panache that we predict it will be an instant classic.
