Van Py Rhum

Thank you for the sample LS. I now know not to spend on a full bottle. It is simply, imho, not worth the hype. It's ok, but I think Bohemian Reves makes a far better vanilla patchouli (natural) than this and for a fraction of the price.

A very sexy, dark blend of rum, vanilla, and musk, in that order, once it settles down on my skin. This is not a vanilla for the faint of heart. It's a vanilla for a boozy flapper in a smoky speakeasy, expensive rum cocktail in hand, dancing on top of an oak table in 1922. The patchouli and oak mix together to add a masculine edge and keep this from being too sweet. I'm in love.

A magnificent smell, very sweet, the rum is present, but the vanilla is much stronger. There are moments when the sweet smell reminds me of cookies. A fragrance with a lot of quality that is worth trying.

Vanilla, like cold vanilla bean ice cream, not cake or cookies. Van Py Rhum is so unusual, unexpected, and complex. I sat sniffing my wrist for too long deciding if I like it, arriving at the conclusion that I'm obsessed. After it settled and dried, my partner remarked that he smelled Tootsie Rolls. This fragrance is a chameleon in the best way.

Definitely a niche perfume. On me, for the first 20 minutes it is nothing but RUM, so I won't be waltzing into work straight off. Think pirate on a bender under the cloak of darkness. The rum then burns away to produce an earthy, creamy (but not syrupy sweet) parade of vanilla. The various vanillas roll and switch places in a never ending go-kart race. On my skin, sillage lasted 6-8 hours, but was easily detected on laundry the next day - as earthy vanilla, not booze. Intensity - as non stop as a pirate hauling treasure out of a cave. Your love affair with the pirate is your own. I would wear this more for a date night or fun weekend with friends (the kind where spilled rum drinks are encouraged).

Love Love this fragrance, however, it reminded me of Kayali's Sugared Patchouli. It was sweet, but earthy dry dowm. It is very addictive. A delight. On the other hand, the samples sent were delicious! Thank you, the one I like is sold out, Vetiver Ecarlate, wow!!!!!

This is literally the BEST boozy vanilla and patchouli combination I've ever smelled. It's rich and long lasting. Perfectly unisex and a compliment magnet.
